So, here's my blog. I'm not the creative, good-with-words type that some of my friends are, so don't expect much in the way of a day to day narration of what's going on, but I thought this would be a good place to post photos for everyone to see instead of emailing everyone. And maybe the occasional story if it's a good one. Most of you know that Will arrived at 5:22 am on Friday, January 30, 2009 weighing in at 7 lbs 11 oz and measuring 20 inches long. That makes him one day shy of 1 month...it does fly by!
I'll give you a quick rundown of our day(s) leading up to his arrival. My last day of work was Wednesday, January 28th. Tim got called for an overnight trip on Wednesday and it ended up being a horrible night...airplane was broken when he arrived, they told him it would be a 2am departure. Fortunately they found another airplane and they were on their way around 11:00 pm. He arrived at the hotel, slept for a few hours then it was back to the airport for the return flight. Thursday we did some shopping and ran some errands before returning home around 4 pm. I had been feeling kind of funny all day but convinced myself it was nothing. We started timing the "funny feeling" around 6pm and it was coming about every 5 minutes. I was still convinced it was nothing but Tim, not wanting a home birth, talked me into calling the doctor around 8:00. She said to have some dinner and drink some water and they would have me come into the office in the morning. Tim went out to pick up Chinese food and while he was gone I started to feel pretty painful contractions (still didn't admit they were contractions, though). He returned and wanted me to call the doctor back but I was determined to do as she said...eat some food and drink some water and wait until morning. Finally, after ending up on my hands and knees on the floor a few times during contractions and the contractions coming anywhere from 3 - 5 minutes pretty consistently, I called the doctor back. She said to get to the hospital, much to my surprise. I think Tim was quite relieved! We arrived at the hospital at 10:00 and they immediately said I was staying to have the baby. We were able to get some rest through the night in between people coming in and out of the room. Will finally arrived at 5:22 am!
I guess for someone who started this by telling you not to expect much writing, I got pretty wordy. Anyway, that's Will's arrival story...now more pictures.
